Gray Muzzle GearGear that fits your older dog.

Which lift harness size fits your dog?

Makers size lift harnesses by weight, by girth or both, and a Medium from one brand isn't a Medium from another. Enter your dog's numbers below and we'll check 39 sizes from 11 harnesses against each maker's own chart.

How to measure your dog

Weigh your dog on a bathroom scale: weigh yourself holding your dog, then yourself alone, and take the difference. Or use the weight from your dog's last vet visit.

For girth, use a soft tape measure around the part of the body the maker's chart names, usually the deepest part of the chest just behind the front legs. Rear slings sometimes go by the belly or waist instead. Keep the tape snug but not tight. If the maker gives a measurement, trust it over weight.

How the finder works

We list 39 sizes from 11 harnesses. 23 of them give a weight range and 22 give a girth range; some give both. The finder shows each size whose listed range includes your dog's number. Ranges are the makers' own, copied from their size charts and checked October 2026. 7 sizes on our list don't publish a weight or girth range, so the finder leaves them out. You'll find them on our lift harness page.

A harness that fits isn't always the right kind. Choosing a lift harness explains rear, full-body and handle styles, and your vet can tell you which kind of support your dog needs.

Questions people ask

How do I measure my dog for a lift harness?

Weigh your dog, then measure girth with a soft tape around the part of the body the maker's chart names, often the chest just behind the front legs. If the maker gives a measurement, trust it over weight.

What if my dog is between two sizes?

Check the maker's size chart for its advice on in-between dogs. The finder shows both sizes when your dog's numbers fall in two.

Which kind of lift harness does my dog need?

It depends on where your dog needs help: back legs only, front and back, or just a handle. Your vet can tell you which suits your dog. Choosing a lift harness explains each kind.
