Compare raised dog feeders by bowl height, bowl size and material.
Before you choose
A raised bowl can be easier for a stiff neck, but raised feeders are not shown to prevent bloat, and large, deep-chested dogs may be better fed from the floor. Ask your vet before switching.

Measure from the floor to the top of your dog's shoulders while standing. Chewy's buying guidance is to subtract about 4 inches for smaller breeds or about 6 inches for larger ones, so the bowl sits at or just below the lower chest and your dog does not have to crane its neck. An adjustable feeder lets you fine-tune the height.
Do raised feeders prevent bloat?
No study shows that. A review in Veterinary Evidence (Buckley, 2017) found only two studies, with conflicting results, and none showing raised bowls lower the risk of gastric dilatation-volvulus (bloat). It advises that owners of at-risk dogs feed from the floor. If your dog is a large, deep-chested breed, ask your vet before switching to a raised feeder.
Will a raised bowl help my dog's arthritis?
Some makers say raised bowls mean less bending, but we did not find a vet school or veterinary body that recommends them for arthritis. Ask your vet whether a raised bowl suits your dog.
My dog has megaesophagus. Is a raised bowl enough?
The Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital says dogs with megaesophagus must be fed in an upright position and may need to stay upright for 10 to 30 minutes or more after eating. It calls the Bailey chair a great option for most dogs, especially larger breeds. Follow your vet's feeding plan.
Fixed or adjustable height?
A fixed feeder has one height; we list that height when the seller states it. An adjustable feeder has several settings, shown here as a lowest-to-highest range. Many listings give only the overall stand height, so check the notes on each row.
